Windows Live Messenger (2008) Download Help!?

I have downloaded the application needed, and it ends up with either a error message saying 'You are offline' or 'System error etc.'

Please help! Also, the messenger already on my computer, won' work!

Windows Live Messenger won't install properly on Operating Systems older than XP (2000, NT, 98, etc).

Try uninstalling the messenger you currently have on your computer, restart your computer, then reinstall the messenger. I had the same problem and I did that, and it worked for me.
