Windows Live Messenger not working for days!!!!?

For the last couple of days my msn messenger version 8.1 hasnt been working. so i thought, why not upgrade? I upgraded to version 8.5 but its still not working. My internet connection is fine, my system is fine, but im not sure why it stopped working. Please help me... msn is my way of communicating with my mother, im living overseas!!!

Use troubleshoot to fix the different problems associated with a bad connection to msn servers.
i know how you feel if it isnt working uninstall it and sweep your computer for any windows live files(do this yourself no programs)and delete any you have!
I'm not sure, but lately I haven't been able to send any messages and I want to know what's happening too!
When it isn't working when you press sign in, a troubleshooting box should pop up or something saying 'Fix This.' This should tell you what you're looking for.
