My messenger keeps crashing whenever someone on my contact list logs off, or when I close a conversation window. Is it a common problem or is it my computer? and how can I fix it?

uninstall it and reinstall it. if not get a new antivirus or format it.
If you have a beta version, there might be bugs in the program. I downloaded the beta, and I can't install an older version, so I'm stuck with it freezing every 5 minutes...sigh
