Just upgraded windows messenger to windows live messenger... now it wont connect?

system asked me if i wanted to upgrade, and i agreed.

everything looks to have loaded OK.

when it wouldnt connect, I ran the connection test troubleshooter

everything appears with a green tick, EXCEPT...

'key ports' has a warning triangle against it. HOWEVER, there is no setup or setting to change.

i am directly connected via a wireless connection, and dont use a proxy or any other weird setup.

i never had any problem with the old messenger.

Any suggestions?

Have the same problem .

Deleted live messenger and reinstalled 3 times to no avail.

I now have messenger 7.5 again. As you say never had any problem.

I have four computers in the house and three have let the installation go in, but it just will not connect on one of them.

Everything was ticked green .even opened a port on the router ,stopped my anti virus etc.

Tricky problem.!!!

I get this problem at least once a week. A reboot takes care of it.
Check your firewall configuration that Live Messenger is on the "allowed" list.
I had this problem but i run Zone Alarm Security Suite - i had to go back to msn 7
If the reboot don't fix it, then delete it, and then reload it this worked fof me
