Adding Contacts on Windows Messenger Live 8?

When I try to add new contacts they appear offline even though the contacts are online and have added me. Then I click on their offline names it says "click here to ad contacts" but when I click the link nothing happens. Some contacts can see me and some can't. Those people that can see me and send me messages can do so as offline messages. The only way I could get around it was to downgrade to windows 7.5 and now everything is working fine. But my laptop is fairly new and everything is updated, and I do not have any other problems. I recently tried going back to windows live 8 and all the new contacts I had added showed up as just email names showing they would be the same problem.

No idea what is wrong... any1 else experiencing this problem?

no im not facing this problem mine is working fine, maybe try to reinstall it and i think the contact u tried to add, didn't accept u that's why

I've been trying to fix it for the past 2 hours, I wanted to add a new contact but for some reason i couldn't.

I folloed every step on their help page and it didn't work. I don't know what's wrong, i sent a mail to customer service.... I had to download the 7.5Messenger since that's the only one that i can get to see all my contacts....

The new one sucks.... It worked great for me so far and i added someone on it once but now it's bad....
