How do you get the firewall so that i can access Windows Live Messenger?

Well i just bought my laptop which is a Toshiba a200-15i and theres a free norton 90day suscription that comes with it and i just finished downloading Windows Live messenger and it wont let me go online and it says, when i troubleshoot it to find out the problem, that its my firewall thats stopping me from signing in...and i just wanted to know how to let my firewall let me log in,

I highly recommend you ensure your trial of Norton is not expired, that you have it properly configured (including scanning for PuPs, and have it set to automatically download and install all updates.

Auto updates should also be configured for windows update to ensure you get the latest security patches.

since you just bought your laptop, the windows firewall may also be on by default. because norton has it's own firewall u need to turn windows firewall off. on the bottom right hand side of the screen u might have an icon of a shield,

double click that %26amp; turn off the firewall. other wise go to the control panel and click on Securit center.
